Low-iron or standard float?
Specify low-iron glass
On standard 6mm float glass this colour will not look like the chip. Float glass contains iron, which gives it a faint green cast, easy to see at the edge of a pane and, through a pale colour, across the whole face: a white goes faintly green-cream, a pale blue drifts towards sea green. Low-iron glass has almost none of that cast, so the colour reads as the chart shows it. Low-iron carries a higher rate per square metre, and the cost page shows the two side by side.
How a painted splashback is made
6mm glass, toughened for the heat behind a hob, with the sockets and the hob notch cut before toughening, then painted on the back so the colour sits behind a glass surface that wipes clean. The colour you see is the paint through the glass, which is why the base glass matters and why the surface is always gloss.

Does RAL 9001 Cream need low-iron glass?
Yes, if you want it to look like the chip. Cream is a pale colour, and the green cast of standard float glass shows through it. Low-iron glass has almost no cast, so the colour reads true.
Will RAL 9001 on my screen match the glass?
